Ingredients

  • 1lbs ground beef (80/20 is best)
  • 1/2cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2/3tsp salt
  • 1tsp garlic powder
  • 1tsp onion powder
  • 1/2tsp black pepper
  • 1/2tsp Old Bay
  • 1 finely diced shallot

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, manually combine the ground beef, panko, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and Old Bay seasoning. Mix by hand until smooth and no further (the mixture can become too dense and heavy).
  2. Divide the hamburger into 4 parts and form into balls.
  3. Press down the patties and shape them just larger than the buns. Use a spoon to dent the center so they don’t puff up as they cook. Stack with wax paper if necessary.
  4. Preheat the pan or skillet to medium heat (350-400°F).
  5. For thick patties, fry 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. For thin patties, fry for 2 minutes per side.
  7. Serve.
